“A Cavallo” project — an art car carousel performance piece by Quill Hyde for Burning Man 2007. (www.acavallo.org)

If you haven’t heard much from me lately, it’s because I’m headed to Burning Man again. This year I’m busy photographing a large-scale, funded art project called “A Cavallo” — a carousel “art car” sculpture that will be roaming the darkness of the desert spewing fire while entertaining the masses with live music and mayhem. (For project details visit: www.acavallo.org)

The project has been designed and built in Brooklyn by artist Quill Hyde and a rag-tag group of friends. We’re all delirious from lack of sleep but spirits are high and mighty because the real fun is about to begin. The project is finished and ready to be driven cross-country to Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the event — we leave TONIGHT!

I’m documenting the project from start to finish and will be driving out with the crew to shoot along the way. I’ve posted a rough edit of photos in 2 galleries of the build process and a trial setup in Brooklyn. It’s just the beginning of the adventure, so more great photos to come. Stay tuned…

PS. I’ll be traveling with the project for the next 3 weeks and will seldom be checking email/blog — apologies if I don’t get back to you right away.

FIGMENT Festival

FIGMENT Festival — A one-day celebration of art and creative culture on New York City’s Governors Island. (www.figmentnyc.org)

I’ve been crazy happy busy with work, life, and love so it’s been a task fitting it all in lately — not to mention finally designing and launching this blog. Wow, what a task — thought it’d be easy, but nooo…. Being the perfectionist I am, I’m drowning in template design and back-end technology chaos. “Widgets, plugins, and databases, oh my!”

More to come, sooooon……
